Sonas began with a simple observation: the same operational problems were appearing again and again across the cash management industry — yet no one was truly solving them.

Our founder, Raheel Bhatti, spent more than a decade at G4S leading reconciliation across regional operations. During that time, he saw firsthand how heavily cash operations relied on manual processes, spreadsheets, paper records, and disconnected cash-tracking systems. Despite the scale and risk involved, meaningful automation was rare, and many cash management systems added complexity rather than removing it.

After leaving G4S, Raheel worked as a consultant for cash management organisations worldwide. Regardless of geography or business model, the same challenges kept surfacing: limited visibility, inefficient reconciliation, unreliable ATM cash forecasting, and operational risk from fragmented systems — affecting both organisations responsible for cash handling and processing and the financial institutions overseeing cash networks.
